James: Glendening's work ethic drives Red Wings They've turned over almost their entire roster without turning over expectations. They've rebuilt on the fly without missing the playoffs. The Red Wings have done the unthinkable and the nearly impossible. They've also earned zero margin of error for the fact that they are still very much a work in progress. The Red Wings have earned (and received) a ton of respect for what they've accomplished. This is the weird dynamic of making the playoffs 24 consecutive seasons. Advancing past Montreal in the next round (assuming the Habs beat Ottawa) would be even more of a shocker. Some fans might parrot those thoughts, but that's silly. The team will tell you that only a Stanley Cup will do.
